What This Service Delivers

A watch that's been worn regularly picks up the marks of daily life—light scratches on the case, scuffs on the bracelet, a dulled finish that makes the whole piece look tired. These aren't signs of neglect, just the natural result of wearing something you value. But they can affect how you feel about putting that watch on each morning.

Our polishing service addresses this accumulated wear. You'll receive your watch back with a refreshed appearance—the case restored to a more presentable condition, the bracelet looking cared for rather than worn down. The watch still carries its history, but it looks ready to continue its journey with you rather than showing every bump along the way.

The quiet satisfaction of wearing a watch that looks as good as it functions. A small change that makes a noticeable difference in how you feel about your timepiece.

When Wear Becomes Visible

You notice the scratches accumulating on your watch case. Light ones at first, barely visible unless you look closely. Then deeper marks from that day you caught it on a door frame, or the scuff from setting it down on a desk too carelessly. The bracelet shows similar signs—polished links that have dulled, brushed surfaces that look uneven where they've been rubbed.

Perhaps you've considered having it polished but hesitated. Stories circulate about watches returned with altered case geometry, removed hallmarks, or finishes that don't match the original. The concern is reasonable—improper polishing can diminish a watch's character or even its value. You want the watch to look better, but not at the cost of changing what it fundamentally is.

So the watch continues to show its wear. Not damaged, exactly, but no longer presenting itself well. You find yourself reaching for it less often, choosing something that looks fresher even if you prefer the worn one. A small thing, but it affects which watch you actually wear.

A Considered Approach to Polishing

Before any work begins, we discuss what you want from the polishing. Some watch cases were originally finished with a combination of polished and brushed surfaces—removing these distinctions during refinishing changes the watch's appearance in ways you might not want. Others prefer to maintain visible signs of use rather than pursue a high polish. These preferences matter, and we address them before touching the watch.

The polishing itself uses appropriate abrasives and buffing compounds, working progressively from coarser to finer grades. We pay attention to the case geometry, working to remove surface scratches without rounding edges or altering the original lines. For brushed finishes, we match the direction and texture of the original factory finish as closely as possible.

This takes more time than simply buffing everything to a mirror polish, but it preserves what makes your watch distinct. The result is a case that looks refreshed without looking unfamiliar—still your watch, just presented in better condition.

What to Expect

Initial Discussion

Bring your watch to the studio. We examine the case and bracelet together, discussing what finish you prefer. If the watch has mixed finishes—polished bezels with brushed lugs, for example—we clarify which surfaces should receive which treatment. This conversation ensures we understand what you're looking for.

Polishing Work

The watch enters our service queue. When we reach it, the case and bracelet are carefully polished according to the approach we discussed. Deep scratches that would require excessive material removal to eliminate are noted—sometimes it's better to reduce their visibility rather than chase complete removal at the cost of case geometry.

Return and Review

You collect the watch and see the result. We point out what was achieved and what limitations we encountered. If there are scratches that couldn't be fully addressed without compromising the case, we explain why. The goal is for you to understand what was done and feel satisfied with how the watch now presents itself.

Service Investment

€35
Case & Bracelet Polish

This covers the polishing work for both case and bracelet, using appropriate techniques for the finishes present on your watch. The price reflects the time required to do the work carefully rather than quickly.

If your watch has extensive damage that would require additional work beyond standard polishing—such as case dent removal or deep scratch correction—we discuss this during the initial examination. You decide whether to proceed with the additional work.

What's Included

  • Discussion of preferred finish before work begins
  • Progressive polishing using appropriate abrasives
  • Attention to preserving original case geometry
  • Matching of brushed finishes to original texture
  • Bracelet polishing with care for link connections
  • Final inspection and cleaning before return

Approach and Timeline

Case polishing requires more time than battery replacement but less than movement service. Most polishing work is completed within two to three days, depending on our current service queue and the complexity of the finish work required.

The process involves multiple stages of progressively finer polishing, with inspection between stages to check progress. Brushed finishes require particular attention to match the original texture and direction. Mixed finishes—where some surfaces are polished and others brushed—require careful masking or selective work to maintain the contrast.

This methodical approach takes longer than simply buffing everything smooth, but it produces results that respect the watch's original character. The time invested shows in the quality of the finished work.

2-3 Days
Typical completion time for case and bracelet polishing
5-7 Days
Extended timeline for complex mixed finishes

Our Commitment to You

If you're not satisfied with the polishing result, let us know. We can discuss what you were hoping for versus what was achieved, and determine whether adjustment is possible. Sometimes expectations and results don't align, and it's worth having that conversation rather than leaving you disappointed.

Before committing to the polishing service, you're welcome to bring your watch in for examination and discussion. We can look at the current condition together, talk about what's achievable, and help you decide whether polishing is the right step. There's no pressure to proceed—sometimes the conversation itself provides clarity.

Our goal is for you to feel good about how your watch looks after the service. That requires honest communication about what can be achieved, careful work during the polishing, and willingness to address concerns if they arise. These elements matter as much as technical skill.
